In 2019, BSW created a campus mater plan projecting expansion through 2044. The plan focused on providing additional beds and the escalating mental health and healthcare needs of those incarcerated. Our study resulted in multiple design options and three work phases to efficiently use the County’s year-over-year budget.
Phase One adds:
- 100,538 SF intake/booking center
- 16-vehicle sally port, which will also support buses
- 180-bed orientation housing cluster
The new intake/booking center will allow dozens of arrestees to be processed daily. Arrestees will be processed and moved to the orientation housing pods on the main level. These housing units will help personnel, over the course of about seven days, classify minimum to maximum male and female arrestees. Classified arrestees will then move to the central jail through a secured corridor system to their assigned general population bed.
