Design for the city’s new 32,000-square-foot recreation center is moving along, and construction could start early next year, according to City Manager David Parsons.
The design could be completed in January with the city seeking construction bids afterward. Construction would probably last at least 18 months, Parsons said.
The city issued a $14 million tax anticipation note in 2023 to help pay for the future construction of the center at the Port Aransas Community Park. If the cost exceeds that amount, hotel occupancy tax revenue could be used to supplement the project.
