Plans for a new aquatic center in McKinney have ebbed and flowed at least since 2006. On Monday, city leaders finally broke ground on a $34 million facility that will have competition and leisure pools, plus sports courts, an indoor track and a gym.
“It’s awesome,” said Cindy Schneible, executive director of the McKinney Community Development Corp., after the ceremonial shoveling of dirt. “It makes it real.”
