Although the existing police facility was the former city hall, the building was a non-distinct 1970’s pre-cast concrete & brick structure. Seeking to both expand the facility & create a strong presence for the police department, a 2′ thick, 600′ long limestone wall was wrapped around the existing facility, serving as the perimeter for the new addition & a new gateway to the original structure. Intermittent spaces between the wall and existing building serve as private courtyards.
